A Peak Into L.I.F.E.

Time has gotten away from me these last 2 weeks and I must apologize for not blogging. To make-up for “my bad”, I have decided to give a little peak into L.I.F.E. – Challenge Your Teen’s Basic Knowledge. Hope you enjoy.

Learning Information For Everyday is set-up to be an easy to use resource for anyone who spends time with teenagers. The goal is to increase adult awareness of things that teens don’t know … so they can help to minimize challenges, embarrassment and faux pas’ in daily activities for teenagers.  Teens “think they know it all” and can run circles around most adults when it comes to using electronics and social media, but they lack fundamental life skills that most adults take for granted. (Trust me, I spent 30 years with teenagers while teaching high school and the gaps were apparent daily to me.)  Mastery of these skills are expected as adolescents transition into adulthood.

Test my theory … ask a few teens the following questions:

  1. Who is the vice-president of the United States?
  2. How do you patch a hole in drywall?
  3. Find an analog (face) clock (non-digital). What time is it?
  4. What is the Chamber of Commerce?
  5. What is a medical insurance card? Why do you need one?

How did they do?  (I hope they got all five correct.) If not, don’t worry … the answers are provided in the book with elaborations for further understanding and discussion. Can you see how knowledge of these topics would be needed by our teens? In the teen years and beyond.

Soon … L.I.F.E. (Learning Information For Everyday) book series will be available to help you challenge teens by asking questions to ensure they are equipped for success!

Make the most of your day!
